Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish

The new parish of Our Lady of Perpetual Help was formed on 1 November 2020 by Bishop Paul Swarbrick. The parish embraces all the current churches of Carlisle: Our Lady & St Wilfrid’s, Our Lady & St Joseph’s, St Margaret Mary’s, Christ the King’s, St Augustine’s, St Edmund’s, St Bede’s.

The Parish sustains the communities and churches of Carlisle as places where we encounter Christ, where parishioners are supported as bearers of the Good News inspired by the Holy Spirit, and God and His people are served to the best of our abilities.

Our Lady of Perpetual Help is served by three priests: Fr Luiz Ruscillo, Fr Frank Osman and Fr Christopher Loughran. The Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Mary continue in residence at St Gabriel’s Convent on Victoria Place.

The parish includes three Catholic Primary Schools, St Cuthbert’s, St Bede’s and St Margaret Mary’s, and also the high school St John Henry Newman Catholic School and Austin Friars school. The Catholic patients in the Hospitals, the Hospice and the various care homes remain under the care of the priests and the parish.

Mass Times

The celebration of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass takes place every day. The Mass is, for the Catholic Christian, the high point of the day since the Eucharist is the ‘source and summit’ of all we do.

All Catholics are encouraged to attend the celebration of Mass as often as possible. The times of the celebration of Mass is listed below.
