St Cuthbert's Catholic School

St Margaret Mary Catholic Primary School

The Mater Christi Multi-Academy Trust

Welcome to The Mater Christi Trust

Our Family. Our Trust.

The Mater Christi Trust was founded in September 2021. We are a growing Catholic Trust, starting with a family of 8 schools and now 16 Catholic schools: two secondaries and 14 primaries across North Lancashire and Cumbria in the Diocese of Lancaster.

Our schools are spread geographically across two counties and three Local Authorities. Our geography challenges our Trust to think and work cleverly in order to fulfil our Vision of “Our Family, Our Trust.” We do this by working closely with our Heads, finding and creating opportunities to work together and by knowing our staff and schools very well.

The Mater Christ Trust also work closely with our two sister Diocesan Trusts, Mater Ecclesiae Catholic Multi Academy Trust in Preston and Blessed Bamber Catholic Multi Academy Trust in Blackpool.

Our schools are in cities, towns and rural communities and are of differing sizes and needs with different priorities. Some of our schools are nearby each other, some are far apart. Our values: Loving, Learning and Togetherness underpin our approach to working together to improve and provide excellent education. We know that we are serving different communities and therefore our schools are not all the same. They retain their individuality and a great deal of autonomy, but we do a lot together and we are aligning on key elements.

We want our pupils to know that we know and love them. We want them to leave us happy, compassionate and fulfilled. We want our staff to feel supported to be the best that they can be, with the right resources and training.

We are inspired by the name of our Trust: Mater Christi – the Mother of Christ – who serves as a powerful role model for all of us showing faith, strength and patience. We are honoured to have her title as our name.

Please feel free to contact us if you would like to visit any of our schools or hear about our priorities and actions

"Inspired by the example of Mary, Mother of Christ, Mater Christie is a family of Primary and Secondary Catholic Schools, living and learning together for the common good of our children, families and communities.

Our Schools will strengthen the Catholic Mission in the Diocese of Lancaster, and have the wellbeing of our children at the heart of all we do.

We are equal partners with a shared calling to ensure our children an outstanding education, providing them with the knowledge, skills and spiritual development to excel in all they do"
