A Message from the Head

Welcome to St Margaret Mary Catholic Primary School, a 3-11 school in the great border city of Carlisle. The school is part of the Parish of the Our Lady of Perpetual Help as well as The Mater Christi Multi Academy Trust.

Established in 1938 as a means of educating the Catholic families in the area, from the outset, the school has been at the centre of the parish community. Over the years the school has undergone many changes and developments as it has adapted to meet the needs and aspirations of its children. However, there is one factor that has remained constant in the life of the school - Christ is at the centre of all we do and our values recognise that everyone is a child of God.
 

Translated into everyday life, this means valuing and nurturing individual talents, respecting each other and helping each individual to become the very best that they possibly can be. Our key principles of Knowledge, Aspiration, Service and Prayer form the basis of everything that we do as a school; they are the foundations of our mission to bring a world class Catholic education to the city of Carlisle. The school offers children space to grow and provides them with various opportunities and learning experiences that enhance the curriculum.

Throughout the school we aim to stimulate our children with a thirst for lifelong learning, offering a rich and varied curriculum that reflects our view that all children have a talent—be this for maths, the humanities or performing arts and sport. It is our duty as a Catholic school to ensure every child's God given talents blossom.
 

Being situated in the grounds of the church ensures that parish life is at the centre of all that we do. Our children attend weekly Mass and participate in all areas of the church’s life. Our school has a firm belief that our children deserve the same opportunities and learning experiences as those children in other schools, hence we have a vast number of clubs and trips linked to learning that allow our children to explore what is both on their doorstep and beyond - ensuring memories are made for a lifetime.

Choosing the right school for your child is a very important decision.  A visit to our school is the best way to get to know us and we encourage you to come and gain your own impressions of our school community. As a Catholic Primary School we accept children from 3 -11 years old.  We welcome both Catholic and non-Catholic children. We create a culture of learning where children are happy, enthusiastic, motivated and supported by a committed and professional staff.

Saint Margaret Mary Catholic Primary School is dedicated to creating an environment that has Christ's teachings at the centre in all we do. We are devoted to the spiritual, intellectual, emotional and physical growth of our children, shaped by our belief that every child bears the image of Christ. We encourage charity and service, giving children the opportunity to serve God by serving others. We develop a sense of confidence and pride in every member of our community and  believe all children should aspire to achieve the best they can with all talents they have been given.
